Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: 20 June 2026 · Effective: 20 June 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out what is and isn't allowed when using the salfetch.app website, the Demo, and the SALFETCH software. It supplements the Terms of Service and the Disclaimer; licence and subscription terms are agreed directly between us and the customer.
1. General principle
You may use SALFETCH and the Site only for lawful purposes and only on networks, systems, devices, and accounts that you own or are explicitly authorized to administer, using credentials you are authorized to use. You are responsible for all activity carried out through your use, and for ensuring you have the necessary permissions before acting on any network or device.
This policy governs the website, the demonstration, and your use of the software. Our professional services (consulting, professional/implementation services, and training & student learning support) are provided under the separate terms agreed for each engagement; see Section 5 of our Terms of Service.
2. Prohibited conduct — Site & Demo
- Attempting to disrupt, overload, attack, or gain unauthorized access to the Site or its hosting.
- Using the Demo or any Site feature against real networks, devices, or third parties.
- Scraping, harvesting, or bulk-collecting data from the Site, or submitting false information through the forms.
- Reverse-engineering, copying, or republishing Site content or the demonstration code.
3. Prohibited conduct — the software
You must not use SALFETCH to:
- access, scan, probe, monitor, configure, disrupt, or attack any network, system, device, or account that you do not own or are not explicitly authorized to manage;
- use credentials, keys, or access that you are not authorized to use, or circumvent any access control or security measure;
- carry out any activity that is unlawful, fraudulent, or that infringes or violates the rights of any third party (including privacy, confidentiality, or intellectual-property rights);
- conduct unauthorized penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, or "red-team" activity against third-party systems; or
- violate any applicable law or regulation, or your own organization's policies, in your use of the Software.
4. Responsible use of the software
SALFETCH can connect to network devices and, where you enable it, change configurations and perform software upgrades. Accordingly, you agree to:
- Run tasks only against devices you own or are authorized to manage, using credentials you are authorized to use.
- Take responsibility for the effect of any commands, configuration changes, image transfers, or upgrades you choose to execute, including reviewing dry-run output before applying changes.
- Maintain your own backups, change-control, and approvals appropriate to your environment.
- Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and your organization's policies.
5. Licensing and protection
- You must not share, publish, resell, or sublicense your licence file or software copy.
- You must not remove, bypass, or tamper with the software's licensing or protection mechanisms.
- You must not use the software beyond the tasks, devices, users, or term you are licensed for.
Full licence and subscription terms are provided to you directly when you place an order.
6. Consequences
We may restrict or terminate access to the Site, and a licence may be suspended or terminated under the License Agreement, where this AUP is breached, without limiting any other remedy available to us. You remain responsible for any misuse and for any consequences arising from it; some misuse may also be unlawful. We may cooperate with lawful requests from competent authorities.
